Tony Fisher - Multimedia Artist

Tony Fisher with Rosa Straw
Tony Fisher is an innovative and exciting multimedia artist based in Derbyshire. With a heavy emphasis on film and photography Tony's work is a riot of colour and creativity as he captures the everyday.

With a career spanning over 40 years, Tony has photographed everything from people to industrial landscapes while his film portfolio includes a commission for Channel 4 and an abstract piece shown alongside the Sex Pistol's 'Great 'N' Roll Swindle'.

“Tony is one to watch,” comments Rosa Straw, a founding director of Culture Train, “not only does his work have strong visual impact he also explores links between place and history throughout his work. His vision of huge photographic billboards placed in key sites in Derbyshire to illustrate their industrial past are really intriguing and we wish him well for the Arts Council bid to make this happen. He is a true artist and we are extremely pleased to be able to showcase his work at Culture Train.”

Tony Fisher has served on the board for the national organisation Art House in Wakefield for 8 years.

He is also on the East Midlands committee for Rethink and is a member of Derby Mental Health Action Group.

His work is available to purchase at The Pottery, Alfreton, Derbyshire and Derby Museum & Art Gallery, Derby.

A retrospective exhibition of Tony's work over the last 40 years will open on the 4th September at The King George Gallery, Ormiston Ilkeston Academy, Derbyshire, DE7 5HS, tel 0115 9303724.
